Asbestos & Lead Abatement Requirements in Washington State

Any renovation or demolition of buildings constructed before 1980 (asbestos) or 1978 (lead paint) in Washington requires testing and potentially licensed abatement. Violations carry significant fines β€” up to $10,000 per day for asbestos and $37,500 per day for lead.
